Not Forgotten
Dark eyes with no glimmer of hope
Peering through her veil
A life of shadows, pain and sorrow
Used and abused in her home, a jail
If she could only know that she is not forgotten
That there is One who loves her
One who will not use her
Like the ones that have done so in her life
One who wants to wrap His loving arms around her
And hold her tight
Hardened heart with no hint of joy
Cursing the day she was born
A life of tragedy, rejection and loss
Because of the color of her skin
If she could only know that she is not forgotten
That there is One who loves her
One who will not reject her
Like the ones that have done so in her life
One who wants to wrap His loving arms around her
And hold her tight
Disfigured face with no trace of a smile
Wondering why it was so wrong
Unfair courts, punishment and pain
Just for sharing with a hungry man
If she could only know that she is not forgotten
That there is One who loves her
One who will not hurt her
Like the ones that have done so in her life
One who wants to wrap His loving arms around her
And hold her tight

What Can I Do?
Lord, I see the needs of your children,
old and young,
Around the world and here in my town.
I am overwhelmed with sorrow, confusion and love.
What can I do?
To help ease their sorrow
To help shoulder their pain
To help meet their needs
Without thought of personal gain
What can I do?
To help them understand
To show them I care
To tell them you love them
And that you are always there
What can I do?
To get others to see
To let them know
To help them to respond
‘Cause they’re no different than me
What can I do?
To be more loving
To encourage kindness
To share my stuff
When will I know how much is enough?

Someone
Hurtful words screamed in anger
Financial pressures, bank account meager
Broken relationships, life will never be the same
Painful memories haunting my life
I need You more than ever, Jesus.
I can not and do not want to do this alone.
Hold me, carry me, love me, Jesus.
I need Someone who cares.
Shunned, thrown out of her city
A victim of disease that’s taken so many
No hope of getting what she desperately needs
Painful memories becoming her life
She needs You more than ever, Jesus.
She can not do this alone.
Hold her, carry her, love her, Jesus.
She needs Someone who cares.
No longer needed is what they said
Someone much younger they want instead
Who wants him, this man with old skills
Painful memories becoming his life
He needs You more than ever, Jesus.
He can not do this alone.
Hold him, carry him, love him, Jesus.
He needs Someone who cares.

They Matter
They Matter
They come from
Chad, Mexico and Somalia
Vietnam, Sudan and Myanmar
Women who love and laugh
Children who giggle and play
Men who dream and plan
They come from
Afghanistan, Congo and Iraq
Uganda, Burma and Ethiopia
Women who teach and sew
Children who run and squeal
Men who plant and harvest
Women who need to know
Children who need to hear
Men who need to believe that
They matter.
They matter to me.
They matter to God.
They come from
Poland, Czech Republic and China
Zambia, Korea and Sierra Leone
Women who cook and clean
Children who learn and sing
Men who provide and protect
They come from
Japan, Egypt and Iran
Liberia, Venezuela and India
Women who mend and repair
Children who study and care
Men who design and build
Women who need to know
Children who need to hear
Men who need to believe that
They matter.
They matter to me.
They matter to God.

Phil Troyer is running for Congress but not this Phil Troyer
Due to receiving numerous emails and phone calls over the past few days, I need to clarify that I am not the lawyer Phil Troyer who announced his candidacy for Indiana’s 3rd District Congressional seat currently held by Mark Souder. Although we share the same first and last name, I have never met Mr. Troyer.
I am the Phil Troyer, raised in Laotto, Indiana, son of Pauline and the late Arthur Troyer. I graduated from East Noble High School in 1970, Ball State University BAR ’75 and Indiana Wesleyan University, BMA ’93. I’ve been registered as a licensed professional architect (NCARB, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio) since the late ‘70’s. My architectural firm, Phillip A. Troyer, Inc., relocated to Ludwig Road, Fort Wayne in January 2009 after practicing for nearly 30 years in Laotto.
I appreciate all of the positive comments about my ‘running for congress’ and want to request that all inquisitive voters research and/or contact Phil Troyer, the lawyer, as far as political ideals, qualifications, character, etc. If I ever decide to enter the political arena, I will be sure to contact all of my ‘Facebook and email fans’.
Thanks,
Phil Troyer

Tuesday afternoons
Somalia, Vietnam, Sudan, Congo, Chad, Burma, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Mexico, Ethiopia and the USA. What is the common thread? They are some of the countries representative of the women I am privileged to work with on Tuesday afternoons at a Fort Wayne ministry.
We "teach" conversational English via sewing, knitting and jewelry-making skills. The women also have an opportunity to learn English using a computer program. ESL and parenting classes are open to these beautiful women as well.
Since I have been become a helper in the beginner's sewing room, I know of a few items we regularly use. Thread, metal sewing gauges, Velcro strips, decorative buttons, zippers, fusible webbing and plastic bobbins are always needed. Thanks to Millie M. for delivering a car load of fabric --- it is very much appreciated.
Being with these women is such a blessing to me. Many have come out of extremely difficult situations in their home countries. My friend, Katie, went with me today. She and I talked on the way back home about the fact that women from all around the world have so much in common. No matter what color, race or age, there seems to be a need to be loved, appreciated, cared for and encouraged. I know these women leave each Tuesday feeling loved on and valued. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to whatever God has in store for me and His women from every race and culture.

Lincoln Lee Troyer
Matt and Natalie's baby boy - our fourth grandchild - arrived at 5:26 p.m. July 28th. He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20.5 inches long with adorable blonde hair. Natalie's room at Community North in Indy was almost vacation-ish but I don't think she felt very vacation-y for a few hours. We are so blessed to have this little guy for a grandson. He is so cuddly and sweet.
Mia & Tim, Eric & Abby, Matt & Janelle and Phil & I waited in the lobby for the big announcement---we received the big news via email from Matt. Shortly thereafter a picture and info was on Facebook. The wonder of the internet and iPhones. After the baby and Natalie were attended to/cared for, Matt and Teresa came out to the lobby to greet us. I can only say there was no shortage of tears.
We are so grateful for this little guy. He is an answer to prayers and truly a gift from God.
